Stories by Justin Sau

Official Author Portfolio

My love of words and writing started almost from the time I first began to read. Over the years, I’ve gone from reading other people's words to writing my own. Please look through my updated Author Portfolio to discover more about my work.

My Portfolio

The following is a collection of my most meaningful short writing projects, be it poetry or short stories. Each piece is unique in style and content and represents a distinct moment in my writer's journey. I hope you enjoy my work and I invite you to contact me with any questions.
These are also accessible through the headings at the top of the page.

Statue of Liberty

Playing Saxophone With the Statue of Liberty

July 2019

A strange title? Absolutely. This poem was written as a response to injustices in our world.

The Girl in the Mirror

December 2019

A short horror story that was written years ago that I've continued to try and improve throughout the years. It's become quite dear to me - my first work of short fiction outside of schoolwork. It creeped me out a fair bit while writing so I affectionately hope it does the same to you.

The Process

November 2020

An ironic take on the classic English Narrative assignment. I had no ideas at that point in time, so I decided to write a narrative about exactly that. Not having any ideas.

The True Monster

November 2020

Not the best title - I apologize. Written for school and polished on my own, this piece was used as a way to air some of my experiences and thoughts.

Recollections

March 2021

There comes a time in almost every person's life when things change drastically and they begin to lose their inner child. That, to me, is one of the worst things anyone can ever go through, so this poem was written in response to this epidemic.

Musings

November 2021

I've always loved Greek mythology, and this work occurred to me as I was rereading the story of Persephone as alluded to. The writing itself doesn't have much connection to the myth, but the mind works in strange ways.

The Colors of Love

January 2022

During the G9 school year, Covid-19 suddenly flared up again. To alleviate some of the stress I was feeling and to occupy myself, I turned to poetry. This is the first of several poems written during the Online Learning period of 2022.

If only Fate could be lenient

January 2022

The next of my poems written during the extended period of Online Learning, this poem has a more philosophical feel to it while simultaneously telling a story.

Love is...

February 2022

For this poem I decided to continue with the theme of love while also alluding to my love for mythology, which draws parallels to "Musings".

All Wrong

February 2022

Another love poem! I wanted to experiment with writing about different experiences of love — some say it's beautiful, others say it's torture. Why not both?

The little things are no longer so little

April 2022

The last in the saga of Covid-fifth-wave poems. A little shorter, a little more intense, the perfect ending of an era.

The Price of a Meal

May 2022

My first dive into the dystopian genre, written in Grade 9. It is similarly creepy to "The Girl in the Mirror" albeit in a different way. If you like stories with a not-so-clear-cut protagonist, this is the place to be.

Knife's Edge

December 2022

A delve into the sci-fi genre with a tasteful swirl of historical fiction. This was written as a project in the Race, Justice, and Human Rights unit of my Humanities class.

You, in Time

July 2023

An experimentation in slant rhyme and different elements of poetry and deeper themes of existence, and a bit of a travel diary of all the amazing places I've been to.

Daughter Time

February 2024

A quaint little exploration of the mythology of time, and how I came to terms with the fact that my own time in high school was rapidly coming to an end.

The Grapes of Wrath: 2024

June 2024

My foray into journalistic writing with a signature splash of creativity: what do people in America think the future will look like? For more journalism visit harbingersmagazine.com

Elysium

August 2024

Definitely reminiscent of "Musings" and a more primal, abstract look at love, sound, and poetry.

Poppies; Sunflowers

September 2024

An investigation of Ernest Hemingway's "iceberg theory" and the idea of saying much more with very little. My own imaginative look at the college process.

"Writing is the geometry of the soul"
